The Carolina Defenders are a youth basketball organization owned and operated out of Charlotte for the sole purpose of providing the future of our communities a pathway into collegiate success. By focusing on the overall development of the student athlete, we are providing a platform for these young men and women to become successful adults. Being a Defender is more than just putting a basketball in someones hands, it is about community and family. It is about being a part of something special, taking ownership and providing a pathway for other families to have the same opportunities for success. It is about a “pay it forward” mentality. When you walk through our doors, you are more than just a statistic or a number, you are part of a bigger family. We welcome you to join our team!
As a former member of the Carolina Defenders organization I am blessed to have stuck around through the ups and downs of our seasons. The Carolina Defenders family did so much for me from the coaching staff to my fellow teammates. The organization helped me to focus on the future and what I had to get done to be successful. Without the help of Coach Mike, and Coach Eric I don't know where I'd be today, they treated me as one of their own children and I'm forever grateful for that.
Being a member of the Carolina Defenders was the best decision I ever made regarding my basketball career. The Defenders have great coaches who had a positive impact on me on and off the court. I was motivated to improve my basketball skills and to stay focused on my school work. I now play college basketball for Erskine College. I was given the opportunity to work out with my college through the Defenders and that is what ultimately got me a scholarship. I am very grateful for everything the Defenders organization did for me and I am proud to have been a part of it.
The Defenders helped many in many ways. First of all the Defenders went out and found me. They said I had the talent to play at the next level and they wanted me to play for them. At practice they helped me get better in all aspects of my game. While we weren't practicing our Defender coaches were emailing coaches every day, trying to help us find a spot for college. The tournaments we went to were always competitive, and coach made sure to have scouts there. When we went to college workouts, coach always went with us and put in a good word. Overall the experience was great and the defenders helped me find a college to play at, which I thank them for.
